Dr. Fahad A. Dhawi is an Arabic typographer, information designer, and design educator. He is an Assistant Professor of Typography and Graphic Communication Design in Kuwait. He holds a Ph.D. degree from Central Saint Martins, UAL London, M.A in Graphic Design (Distinction) in 2012 from Coventry University, UK and B.A in Graphic design (Cum Laude) in 2009 with a minor in Communication from the American University of Kuwait.
Dr Dhawi’s practice-based research project highlighted the importance of Arabic Typography and Graphic Communication in language learning and how teaching Arabic can be further ‘simplified’ through a creative visual pedagogic approach. His research reestablished the term "educational typefaces" with the aim to possibly open up future research on the role of design and typography through the creation of educational typefaces - in visual pedagogy and interdisciplinary design.
Research project title: Redesigning Arabic Learning Books: An exploration of the role of graphic communication and typography as visual pedagogic tools in Arabic-Latin bilingual design.
